RESTORE - RETRIEVE - RECOVER
When you've got one of 11 shells that represent the remainder of the history of a marque, you have to do all that is possible to keep whatever is retrievable, and either restore or sometimes re-fashion the parts that need it.
It was a huge task, but the bare bones of the rebuild were:-
- Entire mechanical and moving parts rebuild. 5 pages of A4 cover the list of parts that comprise the rebuild of the 1275S engine and gearbox.
- Interior recovery. Many of the interior parts have been saved - including all seats, door cards, and rear pocket trim. Headlining has been replaced. Instruments restored, heater unit restored.
- Bodywork - major body recovery including new roof, bootlid, reconditioned s/h Mk II 'S' doors. Original bonnet, BMC new old stock inner wings, front panel, wings, sills, whole replacement heritage floor, boot floor. Upper dash rail with original holes for telephone holder cup remained, with lower dash rail and bulkhead. Dash panel, with remote radio hole fittings kept.
